Devin Armani Booker is an American professional basketball player for the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats, where he was a consensus second-team All-American in 2015. He was selected by the Suns with the 13th overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft.
Booker was born on October 30, 1996, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is the son of Melvin Booker, a former professional basketball player who played in Europe, and Veronica Gutiérrez, a former volleyball player. Booker has two older brothers, Davon and Devin.
Booker moved to Moss Point, Mississippi, when he was in elementary school. He attended Moss Point High School, where he was a three-time all-state basketball player. He led Moss Point to the state championship in 2013.
Booker was recruited to play college basketball by several major universities, including Kentucky, Duke, and Michigan State. He chose to play for Kentucky, where he was a key player on the Wildcats' 2014–15 team that reached the Final Four.
